Children

Children's Special Health Care Services (CSHCS) is a program within the Department of Community Health. CSHCS helps children and some adults who need specialty medical care. Specialty medical care is care that cannot be managed only by pediatricians, family doctors or internists.

View the CSHCS brochure.

CSHCS is part of state government, and so it belongs to families. This Family Guide explains how CSHCS works. It tells you how to get help from CSHCS. Many parents find it overwhelming and confusing to suddenly need CSHCS. However, lots of help is available to sort out the system.

The Children with Special Needs Fund is an additional resource from CSHCS. "The CSN Fund is the most direct, comprehensive and innovative opportunity to help Michigan's special needs children."
